In the strange kilter of the early pandemic, there was a chance to consider what is essential. As a performing musician suddenly off the rails, I played and played guitar, alone, to myself. What repeatedly arose was ... melody, that thing that magically imbues music with heart and meaning. The isolation offered a special window to engage the transcendent power of great melodies.
